Review – Resident Evil Afterlife 3D

Yesterday I finally made my way to the local theater to catch the latest movie in the franchise Capcom built in 3D.

I fully expected to enjoy this movie as I am a fan of the games (RE4 aside) and the movies and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. The movie starts off pretty well where the 3rd one ended with Alice and her army of clones going after Umbrella Corporation. The action was high paced and intensely entertaining coupled with the fact that the movie was designed and shot in native 3D made it that much more enjoyable for me. Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter reprise their roles as Alice and Clare Redfield as they team up with a gang of survivors on top of an abandoned penitentiary.

Paul W.S. Anderson, Milla Jovovich’s real life husband returns to the directors chair and it shows that he has some respect for the source material given some of the nods to fans of the game series will see in the form of coins, another series mainstay character, the Majini and The Executioner from RE4 and 5.

Do not expect this to be a series movie, some of the action is so over the top “Hollywood” some will find themselves groaning at the improbability of it all but what do you want? You paid to see a movie about a Zombie Apocalypse, not Schindlers List or Forrest Gump. Grab your extra buttery popcorn, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Check it out folks!
