Valve’s ever-updating Team Fortress 2 has always supported user generated content from maps to mods (client and serverside) to sound clips and machinima. They’ve also traditionally included popular community made maps in their big updates, but they’ve taken it a step further and allowed users to submit items and avatars for Team Fortress 2 directly to Valve. Although it was a joke before, it’s now official: The fastest, most reliable way to get a hat in TF2 is to go make one yourself. Once approved by Valve, any weapon or item created will appear in the creator’s backpack and will be added to the random drop list for the rest of the Team Fortress 2 Community. A word of warning: Valve already has laid down the law and disallowed inappropriate items, so you might not want to invest time in modelling the Dongcap or the Booby Trap.
