Reports have been coming out from the PC camp stating that today’s newest DLC for Fallout 3, Broken Steel, is broken and giving users errors. Reports say that the error is rather cryptic which reads:

Not a cryptographic message or the cryptographic message is not formatted correctly. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8009200D)

*** UPDATE 1***
Bethesda has issued a statement regarding the PC version: “We’re seeing the same error, which is a Games for Windows Live DRM Install error. Microsoft is working on fixing it, and we’ll let everyone know once we’ve verified it.”

*** UPDATE 2***
Bethesda has a link to a Microsoft article with a hotfix for this issue here. Anyone out there have the chance to apply this hot fix and get the game to work successfully? Let us know.

*** UPDATE 3***
According to some reports on the Bethsoft forums, some users have been able to get the new DLC to work with a minor workaround to the the DRM error that’s been causing so much grief for the PC users who tried to get Broken Steel yesterday. From what I can gather, the best thing to do is to cancel your go to ‘my media’ redownload and install the file from your history menu. We’re awaiting official word from Bethesda about a final fix and will update you as soon as possible.
