Disney Universe Announces New Characters

Disney Interactive Studios continues to roll out new characters for it’s upcoming release Disney Universe. Recent inductees include one of our favorites, Captain jack Sparrow, and others from his the high seas Adventures of the Pirates of the Caribbean: Angelica, Mr. Gibbs, Captain Barbossa and Blackbeard as playable character skins for your in game avatar. Also announced Rapunzel (Disney’s Tangled), Ariel (The Little Mermaid) and Disney’s most memorable Fairy Tinkerbell.

This is quite the cast of characters which was already impressive with earlier announcements that include Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” Disney, Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc.” “WALL•E” and Disney’s “The Lion King”.

Having played this game at a preview event this summer I can honestly say that this will be an instant family fun night game that will challenge you enough to take it seriously and entertain you enough to forget your character is dressed as the little mermaid.

Driver San Francisco – Dev Diaries

Having some hands on time with this game at a couple of recent events I was pleasantly surprised at how intuitive the new features and the game play for Driver San Francisco are. Having never played any of the previous Driver games, I’m actually not a fan of driving games, I was shocked at how well the Cars handled and how easy some of the new game play features made this a game I’m actually looking forward to getting my hands on.

The detail that the Ubisoft team put into this game is incredible. Using similar techniques to the city mapping, like in Assassins Creed, you’ll drive around a fully scaled digital representation of San Francisco, and if your at all familiar with the city you’ll be able to visits all your favourite landmarks. I’d tell you more but there are a couple (more qualified) people in the videos below that can share the secrets of Driver with you all… Enjoy!

First Sony, Now Nintendo

MSNBC is reporting that Nintendo may be the most recent victim in a string of gaming related security threats.

The same group claiming the breaking on the Sony PSN (and other services) has come forward with internal Nintendo server information. The Lulz Security group has stated that they are trying to help Nintendo by pointing out this potential flaw in hopes that they will take action and plug this potential vulnerability. In fact they professed a level of love for older Nintendo consoles and that this hack was just for fun.

While Nintendo claims no ‘third party’ (meaning gamer) data was taken, they did recognize the intrusion and will hopefully begin to address the weak point in their network security.

One final thought… Microsoft are you watching, and learning and adapting… I sure hope so.

Oh Canada! What a night for gamers

Oh what a night indeed, one that saw the Canadian gaming community join forces and put aside their console of choice in order to recognize the great things that we produce right here in our own backyard. Mix in a generous helping of representatives from major Canadian gaming development studios, a number of indy/student and social gaming companies and add a healthy sprinkling of gaming fans tossed if for flavor. It was delicious!!! A major feast for your senses.
