Xbox Birthday Party

Over the weekend GeneralGames hosted a Toronto Xbox Community Birthday party and fundraiser, for Child’s Play

Tasha75 and I showed up to find the group in full swing with representation from tehflakes.ca, thebruce, 360sync and Xbox Canada and a full DJ hero, two player, session rocking the joint . Looking around we saw games of all kinds being played – Pool, table games, and Modern Warfare 2, four player Multiplayer showed its head as the night progressed.

The Event started to wrap up with the raffle, and what a raffle it was.  Autographed Xbox games, steam codes, PC games and xbox faceplates and watches. As a group the Toronto Xbox community members raised over 350$ (last I saw) in just a couple hours.

Good food, Good beverage, Good people only make for a good time – thx to Mister Switch and Keadin for hosting us and putting this all together.

A remembrance day gift from Activision

Its great to see companies giving back, especially when they have a huge success under their belts, like Activision most recently did with the Modern Warfare 2 launch – selling 7 million units according to IGN.

Today we say the announcement of Activision’s Call of Duty Endowment (CODE) fund – designed to “Help Veterans Combat Unemployment” (pardon the pun it was in the release). According to the release more than 500,000 unemployed veterans between the ages of 18 and 64 currently live in the United States, boasting a jobless rate that is nearly twice the national average.

To help these returning  veterans Activision has committed to raise millions of dollars for CODE. And already CODE is hard at work announcing an initial grant for the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) organization totalling $125,000. The grant will provide resources to help underwrite the cost of a new PVA Vocational Rehabilitation Services Center in Boston, MA. The PAV is focused on helping veterans with severe disabilities find work – an estimated 85% of Vets supported by PAV are unemployed.

A great announcement, a great cause and a great day to remember those that make the needed sacrifices so that freedom is available for all of us. Thank you.

At the holiday party we will be having an exciting raffle and auction for some very cool prizes donated from a few vary gracious publishers. All of the proceeds will be going to Child’s Play, a very worthy organization that gets hospitals equipped for kids. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but there is some awesome stuff we’ll be giving away. Look forward to this, it’s going to be awesome!

Romance of the Three Kingdoms Touch

Romance of the Three Kingdoms Touch – for iPod Touch and iPhone!! Wow talk about exciting news for fan of the ROTTK series. After spending hours of my teenage life playing ROTTK, I’m very intrigued by the idea of it being a portable game on my iPod Touch.

Koei’s newsletter announced this latest in the long line of Romance games along with a host of new features including; new maps, intuitive touch controls, and 255 characters to choose from and recruit. Get ready to recruit your team of officers from across the land and vanquish your enemies!

Second Left 4 Dead 2 TVSpot

Once again take the roll of one of four new survivors armed with a wide and devastating array of classic and upgraded weapons. In addition to firearms, you’ll be graced with a wide assortment of melee weapons, that include chainsaws, axes (for trees and shredding music – yes the electric guitar) and even the deadly frying pan.

Take your fellow survivors through the cities, swamps and cemeteries of the Deep South, from Savannah to New Orleans across five new campaigns. Adding to the Mayhem are three horrific and formidable new Special Infected and five new “uncommon” common infected, including the terrifying Mudmen (sounds scary…).

Think your good at L4D – then get ready for the next level as the AI Director 2.0 will be making changes as the games progresses; change the weather, the pathways to the Safe houses, and tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match your performance.

Did you read World War Z? I imagine it to be very much like this… What do you think?
